Project overview
As part of Publix’s continued investment in its corporate campus, Downtown Corporate Center #4 was designed to create a more modern and connected workspace for employees while revitalizing an existing structure in the heart of Lakeland.
Unlike a traditional ground-up project, this renovation required an entirely new exterior envelope to be integrated into a previously solid brick building. JEM Glass was selected to execute all exterior glass and storefront systems for what became the company’s largest project to date.
The challenge
This project came with a unique level of complexity from the very beginning. Before construction, the building consisted entirely of a brick façade with no existing window openings. Every opening had to be carefully cut into the structure before new glazing systems could be installed. From waterproofing to structural integration, every detail required precision to ensure the building would perform long term under Florida’s demanding wind and water conditions.
The goal was not simply to modernize the appearance of the building, but to ensure the new systems performed as seamlessly as they looked.
